General Dynamics Bath Iron Works HBM Foundation - Porter Foundations

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works HBM Foundation

Overview

Bath Iron Works, one of our Navy’s leading shipbuilding manufacturers, chose Porter Foundations to install a Zayer HBM Foundation near the ocean in Maine. The water table was -6’-0” below the finish floor; therefore, 32- 10” micropiles were drilled 52’-0” down to bedrock. A 3’-0” thick concrete reinforced mat pad foundation capped off the top of the micropiles.

The project included fire rated demising walls with high tension cables holding up reinforced fire rated visqueen ceilings, separating construction from the BIW workplace. This enclosure created tight quarters for the foundation installation, and Porter used one side tension forming techniques to complete a successful, large machine foundation project for our Government’s Navy ship builders.

Doesn’t get any better than this.
